The reports are coming in from all over the Fediverse. While pixelfed.social is understandably working to accommodate the huge influx of new users, other Pixelfed instances are operating just like normal.

Users report these Pixelfed servers are running just fine:

Don't worry about being on the main insrance, all Pixelfed servers talk to each other.

Here are some advantages and disadvantages of having an account on a flagship server on fedi.

Advantages:

• up to date software

• robust infrastructure

• A well filled local feed and many links to other instances giving a well filled global feed. Nice to have as a new user with no existing contacts.

Disadvantages:

• Usually these are the first to be hit by spam attacks (or other attacks)

• Too much noise and annoying posts on local and global feeds.
