@yuki2501 will be interested to hear how well that works.
how thick is it?

@waltbaldwin Well, before that hard tape I had put some masking tape on the table saw.
It did prevent some (but not all) thin pieces from falling and getting launched to the front.
This yellow tape is made of hard plastic so it'll be much more effective.
The miter saw one prevented nuts and bolts from falling below when I changed the blade, so I can already testify about its usefulness 😛
About the thickness, i'd say around half a millimeter.

@yuki2501 is it rigid enough to prevent tear out? does the thickness impact the precision of the cuts?
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from waltbaldwin@mastodon.energy
@waltbaldwin Rigid enough to be cut with precision by the saw. Its thickness: With recently trimmed nails, if your nail hits the part below, the fingertip just touches the surface of the strip.
So I'd say it's as thick as veneer tape.
As for precision, perhaps it will skew the cuts by a small fraction of a degree? 🤔

@yuki2501 sounds like time to get a small cnc so you can cut your own inserts. ;)

@yuki2501 While the tape isn't as good as a true zero clearance insert, it still makes quite a difference. You'll really enjoy.

@bgarfoot I had planned on purchasing an insert for my table saw, but it turns out that the one I bought was for the 10" model and there's no version available for the 8.5" model which I have.
So I had to buy the next best thing.

@yuki2501 @bgarfoot You can just make an insert yourself. Somewhere down my feed I had pictures of mine, if you can find them.

@yngmar @yuki2501 @bgarfoot I've also seen where the whole insert is covered in the tape and then lowered flush with the table
