So, Switch 2. A lot has changed since the first Switch hit the market, and powerful gaming handhelds are becoming all the more ubiquitous.

The overall design and aesthetic to me screams "Steam Deck-lite". It's a much more mature, adult-oriented colour scheme compared to the bright colours of the original.

Two main questions in my mind here:

1. Tech specs: no mention of these that I can see. Are they going as rumoured for an updated Nvidia Tegra or Tegra-like product, firmly locking the console as a light performance experience with a higher battery life? Or is it time to look at a more conventional x86-type SoC? (unlikely, as the original Switch did just fine with a Tegra).

2. Is there a risk of this becoming a Wii U 2.0? Is there going to be confusion around the exact position of this product and if its just an updated SKU? Probably not, given it's been given a numeric identifier, but you never know.

I'll be watching this with great interest. I don't play my Switch anywhere near as much as I should, so I'm not sure if I'll pick this one up on launch. Guess we'll see what sort of games line-up we end up with.

I think the reason they've gone with '2' is to exactly avoid the sort of issue that they had with the Wii U.
