This pretty much always happens when the ceasefires are designed to have more than the minimum practicable delay before taking effect: the combatant forces scramble to inflict as much death, destruction and suffering as they possibly can on "the other side" before the timer runs out, which tends to mean mostly massacres against civilians and everything helpful for their recovery from the atrocities, overwhelmingly more so by whichever has the devastation potential advantage.

Latest number of Palestinians killed by Israel in the Gaza Strip of Palestine since October 7, 2023, is at least 46707 with another at least 110265 injured, with the majority of the victims being women and children, as reported via WAFA at 14:05 local time.

These numbers are widely considered to be significant underestimates, including by peer reviewed academic study and plain observation that the healthcare system which also is responsible for registering deaths and injured was overwhelmed, targeted and largely destroyed during almost all of that time, but that is the minimum and only known number as of now.

Please be aware: war is not over.

The pace of Israel bombing in Israel's war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip of Palestine has increased since the ceasefire agreement was reached, without taking effect until Sunday.

'Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif says “the pace of bombing has increased dramatically in recent hours”, describing it as “terrifying”' reported the Guardian ½ hour ago.

Israel bombed the tents of displaced people (internal refugees) at Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip of Palestine,

according to Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif with this video from two hours ago.

as indicated by a report by jpost quoting Netanyahu's office of course blaming Hamas, but without any published response from the accused and lacking any statement of having even attempted to get one, so disqualified from being considered adequate journalistic standard (so will not link) but still worth noting.

Hamas has said it is committed to the ceasefire agreement announced by mediators on Wednesday.

Reuters cited senior group official Izzat el-Reshiq making the comment on Thursday morning.

The report comes a few minutes after the office of Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that it had cancelled the planned Israeli security cabinet meeting to approve the deal, accusing Hamas of reneging “on parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an effort to extort last minute concessions.”

Under the terms of the agreement a first batch of 33 hostages is expected to be released on Sunday in exchange for Palestinians held in Israeli jails, and wounded people in Gaza will be allowed to leave for medical treatment.

Suuure.

They say that, but they already canceled yesterday and also their govt ministers have kept very loudly exclaiming over latest year that they will continue shooting even if there is a ceasefire, as they have been continuing in Lebanon since and in violation of that ceasefire and the conquest in Syria is a violation of previous ceasefire.

Let's say there seems to be a total probability of a fully successful ceasefire at... about 0.3% maybe.

Nah. Seems more likely the ceasefire was delayed because govt of Israel was and is intending to use Trump's idiotic statements promising to commit extreme violations of intl law after takeover as leverage during negotiations which increases in potency the closer it gets, so ceasefire would more likely have happened sooner and have been more long-term viable if it wasn't for Trump bumbling in beyond capability as usual.

@b9AcE Israel arguably has attempted to kill EVERY Gaza resident but has failed. In the process they have recruited at least one new Resistance fighter for everyone they killed.

In the process they transformed Hamas from a political organization to "the Army" rightfully considered along with PFLP and all the other Resistance factions to be national heroes for inflicting on the IOF their worst losses and biggest defeat ever.

@LukefromDC I very strongly support the peoples' right to resistance, but I also know that Hamas is also an oppressor and their authoritarian reactionary political end goals are also unacceptable. Generally speaking, if there is a worse oppressor at the moment, that on its own does not make all others' goals acceptable.

All of these things can be true at the same time.

@b9AcE All this happened BECAUSE of the war. The big deal with Sinjar was the IOF killed him by chance, on the battlefield taking the same risks as any other soldier. This is extremely rare in modern warfare.

His focus from my understanding was on liberating prisoners, not on enforcing religious orthodoxy. Anyone willing to meet mass incarceration with open warfare is giving new meaning to prisoner solidarity.

Post-war, Hamas is going to have to accept the reality that this war was only won because groups ranging from themselves to PFLP (socialist) put other things aside and fought together against the genocide.

Although this war made Hamas stronger, it also made PFLP stronger. Hopefully PFLP will be able to counterweight elements in Hamas that want to impose theocracy. Hamas and PFLP shared one goal only: drive out the IOF and recover the thousands of hostages taken by Israel. This goal was all they needed. Same as the US, the UK, and Stalin's Soviet Union joining forces against Nazi Germany.

Interestingly, Taliban-style elements that wanted to force women to wear the veil etc have for some reason more than one been shut down by Hamas themselves. I don't know if that was genuine opposition, fear that Israel could then compare Hamas to Daesh, or something else entirely but this has occurred. As for Daesh and al-Qaeda themselves, they seem to have made exactly zero headway in Palestine.

@LukefromDC I hope that PFLP may get such increased worldwide support that they cease the moment to break free from Iran's influence which they were forced under by EU, USA and Russia's actions, to get back to their past core principle of everyone's liberation through worldwide solidarity between peoples.

Over the latest decade they have instead been decreasing their worldwide communications and activities, which in turn has decreased their support, etc.

Hopefully they will reanalyze things once a ceasefire gives opportunity for that and maybe be inspired by the direction that their very old ally PKK and related did develop in.

That seems unlikely to happen if Hamas is treated as the only relevant representative of the resistance, as Israel wants it and makes it, since in that case PFLP seems to be placed in the same situation as USA and EU put PFLP related to Fatah previously as a lesser and irrelevant sub-faction because they preferred the Fatah sellouts after they agreed to effectively become Israel's proxy subjugation force.

We'll see. Impossible to say now...
