Does anyone know of any tape that doesn't leave glue when you've used it to stick something on a metal surface, like a window frame?

We hang up our festive lights that way, but it's always such a biatch to clean up the glue residue of the tape afterward.

@n3wjack

There's a special tape for furniture that's supposed to not leave any glue residues.

@n3wjack

The website is an "as seen on TV" nightmare, but this stuff is actually quite good.

@mahlon Looks too good to be true. πŸ˜‚

I'll try and get some. Looks like it's a US thing, but I can get some through Amazon it seems.

@mahlon @n3wjack Looks (exactly?) like Nanotape to me πŸ™‚ It is sold under different brand names and a wide range of prices. It pretty much works as advertised: Instant stick, strong (not sure if it can really hold a full grown man though), reusable and long lasting.

I've used it to attach my big ass power strips to the walls. No matter how hard I pull, they won't come off. Yet easily removed and leaving no residue.

@n3wjack Gaffer tape is good one too indeed. Strong and easy to remove. They use it in audio and TV industry to hang, repair and mark their stuff.

Other option: Duct tape. Go for quality brands like 3M I'd say, cheap brands often suck IMHO. Lidl has good discounts on 3M stuff every now and then.

How long do the (Christmas?)lights need to stay up? Might make a difference which tape you can use for a longer period of time.

@JorisMunnik 2 months usually. Gaffer tape looks like the best option.

That nano tape is interesting though. I'll get some of that too. 😏
