This season, there's really a lot to choose from in the category of shitty Christmas songs.

You got the old-timey rape-vibe, you got Mariah Carey, and sleigh bells. Holy hell so many sleigh bells used as an instrument.

With that said: with all due respect to him as a songwriter, "Wonderful Christmastime" probably tops my personal chart of the worst songs not only for the season, but ever written or produced. It's truly just horrible.

I'm genuinely surprised it is as old as it is - feels like I only started hearing it 5 or 10 years ago. Seriously though I would take some old timey Bing Crosby over this sludge any day.

As a bonus, America plays this immediately after Halloween for 2 months straight.

As I sat recently in front of my speakers, a strange event occurred. What seemed an overwhelming force was violently emitted from an unknown origin, cascading over me -- no -- through me, in a huge, sticky wave.

I felt it encasing my organs, surrounding my grey matter. "What is this?!" I asked myself, the taste thick and heavy in my mouth. I smacked my lips thoughtfully. "Is this... could this... be BONK?" I queried no one in particular.

The gelatinous fluid encasing my brain contracted sharply as if to answer, and my universe inverted in a sudden lurch. Looking up at my feet, my agency draining, I realized, no. This was in fact UNBONK.

Another hard squeeze, and another rapid inversion. Was this event what

@axwax described as a Schrödinger's Bonk? No, something was different. Not a BONK superposition, but rather a shift, seemingly prompted by observation. A "HeisenBONK", perhaps.

• CHUNK* Another. I strained against it, but I could no longer maintain control. CHUNK All attempts to classify are rebuffed. Any remaining influence supplanted. Powerless, I give in. The BONKWAVE caressed me approvingly, and my surroundings fizzed into glorious purple.

Anyway, that's what happened. I'm still towelling off. What I was left with afterwards landed on Not What I Call Bonk Wave Volume 3, Disc B -- launch party Friday at 21:00 UTC at https://party.bonkwave.org/ !

An introduction opportunity, so I'm told.

Hi. I'm fastachee. I used to play guitar (and sometimes drums, badly) in a couple of Portland bands in the 90s that you won't find online anywhere. You know, the best decade.

Anyway. I put my guitar up on the wall. I got jobs. I had kids. The guitar got dusty.

I got tired of looking at my wall trophy of shame, and started doing something about it. I don't know what the genre is, other than whatever is floating my boat at the moment. Beeps boops and runk-a-dunks. Punky drums and guitar over electronica?
