tried to order a bike trainer from saris for my bike friday diamond llama that was supposed to have an adapter to make it compatible

except that a month later, they still hadn't shipped my order 🙃

so I had them cancel it and am now looking at alternatives

if you have guesses for trainers that would fit a 20" wheeled bike hmu! 🤙

I love that everything about me getting on a bike is a yak shave 😂

tl;dr there isn't an off-the-shelf trainer that does this and also is made for someone my size

but my PT makes semi-custom steel bike training stands, manufactured by the same people who make onyx hubs? I'm reeling

anyway I ordered one, but it doesn't come with a resistance module, so I'm now haggling on facebook marketplace with some guy in vancouver, WA to see if he'll deliver the specific one I want across the river🤣

well they don't MAKE this specific resistance module anymore so you have to buy them second-hand

because of course you do

@iamabot so: I found a cheap resistance unit on marketplace

then I sent a pic to Kevin, and he said tl;dr oh you have to get this other version of that resistance unit for the mounting bracket to work

which led me to visually inspect the mounts for a bunch of resistance units online, and I’m thinking his stand might be more universal than he was thinking? 😂

@iamabot all that to say: I am getting another resistance unit off marketplace that has the mount he described, but I have ordered a couple more that are returnable to see if they also fit in the bracket with the right screw 😂

because I love a good yak shave like this!!

I mentioned this to Kevin, he also thinks there’s a chance it could work, we are both now invested in the outcome 🤣

@iamabot yeah, I heard on the forums that this one guy worked on resistance units for several companies that were all a part of various acquisitions, so I am thinking this one guy made a bunch of resistance units to fit the same frame 😂
