Objektiv: Die #NZZ ist ein Scheissblatt. Eine Variante der heutigen Redaktion hätte 1932 sicherlich geschrieben:“Während manche Bürger Adolf Hitlers Anschauungen zur sogenannten Rassenlehre übertrieben und aggressiv finden mögen, treffen wir auf einen wortkargen, gar nicht dem nordischen Ideal entsprechenden Grübler …” (Schweizer See für Photo?! “Zürcher «Kronenhalle», ihrem Lieblingslokal.”? Schlimm genug dass sie mal beim Metzger hinter mir stand.)

@mbaudis Not long after I arrived to Switzerland in 2022, I read a couple of articles in the NZZ. What I read was so detached from empirical, verifiable reality that I assumed the NZZ was something like the local equivalent of the Daily Mail, but with a higher budget. I was quite surprised when I later learned it was considered a respectable newspaper!

@m_correa_m In principle NZZ was one of the most esteemed German language newspapers; and some of the factual and science reporting is still very good. But a lot of the editorial stuff is influenced by a mix of Swiss conservatism (which anyway didn’t get damped down by historical guilt like the German one) + neoliberalism (well, Swiss finance…). Getting worse. Mind you, not yet abysmal Weltwoche level.
