Someone's going to ask me why I don't use [insert other static site generator].

@vkc There’s a thing here. I’m not sure how to articulate it. It’s to do with software choices forming social cliques and the dominance games that go with it.

@vxo I first learned HTML programming on it. It made so much lousy HTML that I had to learn to fix it!

@vkc aaaahahahahaha that is how I learned HTML too! I forget what I was using at the time to generate HTML but it'd basically drop a steaming load out the back end that you had to fish through and find the actually good html in between places where it shot out 300 's in a row for unknown reasons

@vxo @vkc AOLpress was discontinued in 2000, six years before SeaMonkey came out. It used to be called NaviPress before AOL bought it in 1995.

@dfyx @vkc it kinda blew my mind to see that there was a commercial product that predated Netscape Communicator/Mozilla SeaMonkey way back. I forgot just when the AOL/Netscape merge happened.
I never really played with these things because I already got used to hand coding HTML, laying stuff out with tables which made sense at the time but now leads to tiny flyspeck web layouts floating unreadable in the middle of your high res LCD screen
