@theferret The climate deniers, the far-right and such infiltrated farming groups pre-Brexit. They were probably always there, but really got involved back then. You could see the racism, the lies, the denial of reality if you subscribed to any of the groups. They used the Gilets Jaune thing from France too as a tool. And I don’t think the way farming/agriculture is taught in colleges helps - because they teach far more about how to extract every molecule from birds, animals, crops without teaching nearly enough about environmental balance, re-wilding, protection of soil, water and air. It’s more about spreading slurry, quickest way to fatten and sell on, which pesticides are most effective, budgeting.

@HarriettMB @theferret Its all been going on for about 30+ years - amongst my raver friends the ones from rural communities are way more prone to the conspiracy theories. Its related that rural areas are car-dependent with a lot of folk driving diesel vehicles, and they are extremely pissed off the EU and other govts are now seeing these as pollution source and passing more regulations (a lot of folk seemed more annoyed VW were caught and punished than Dieselgate itself)

@vfrmedia @HarriettMB @theferret They all fell for every easy Brexit lie, and put up tens of thousands of little pro Brexit signs along mile after mile of countryside verges and fields. Signs paid for by illegal Russian money laundered through into the UK by right wing pro-fash. This is on them. Higher taxes because they sank the UK? That's what they sought, and that's what they wrought.

@theferret

This is also a feature of similar demonstrations in Spain, down to tractors displaying placards referring directly to the 2030 Agenda.
