Alright, so I've got a vexing #linux #network problem that I cannot figure out.

I have a computer that runs #debian testing. In the past I have run #OpenVPN without issue, this evening I experimented with #Wireguard, both now result in the same issue:

The second I bring up anything that transacts with the VPN, my networking connections to this computer severely lag. To the point that ping shows a response time of ~9000ms. Even if there's no active connections to listening ports...

cat /proc/net/sockstat shows low socket and memory use. cat /proc/net/dev shows no errors or drops. iftop -I <vpn interface> shows my throughput for both TX and RX to be in the bits (b) per second. htop shows my memory and cpu usage at absolute minimums.

I can even diagnose this now.
