My Pixel 4 XL's battery connector partially broke so the phone can't tell what charge the battery has, but I don't want to replace my phone yet, dang it!
Fingers crossed I can successfully swap the battery (and thus the connector) with the parts from iFixit. Tonight, digging out a teeny-tiny broken piece of copper and adding a bit of extra pressure behind the connector seems to have made the current battery work for now; I'm hoping this doesn't damage anything for the new battery's connector.

@digitalfox good luck with the repair. How old is the phone?

@muellermeier Thank you!
It's from the end of 2019, a few months after the Pixel 4 XL launched. When I had the camera module repaired under warranty, uBreakiFix confirmed I had the "fixed" battery connector, which is probably why mine lasted until now instead of dying within the extended warranty for this issue:

(Every time my phone loses communication with the battery meter, it posts a notification that opens this page if tapped)

@digitalfox funny how that only applies in certain countries.
Yeah that sounds indeed like the battery problems were something to be expected. Good luck finding a new phone.
