I'm tempted to migrate my Flickr photos to pixelfed, or maybe starting my own instance and putting them there, mostly for the hell of it.
My Flickr account is nearly 20 years old, although I've barely used since the mid-teens.
Flickr was really a special place before the ubiquity of camera phones, and before Yahoo gobbled it up. I miss it.
I don't think Pixelfed or any other future photo sharing service is going to capture the early Flickr vibe for a bunch of reasons, but on the other hand part of the reason I stopped using Flickr was the feeling that it would be inevitably run into the ground, and it didn't feel like a good idea to invest any more time or energy into curating a presence there

Damn, I haven't made myself sad about flickr in a while

I don't really want to be on the flagship instance though, for the usual signal-to-noise and moderation reasons, nor do I really want to deal with running another federated service myself, especially one that presumably chews up terabytes of redundant storage
