Mastodon and other fedi svcs are apparently 30 which is more reasonable.

Still wonder what they do with a mastodon username that's too long when they post a reply to a pixelfed post

Yes, a GUID is not user facing.

But if a bit of code can sling GUID length elements, the user name length should be similar.

It's too late now. "You can't have your common name" is an early and hard stoppage for many users

Add in that seemingly trivial decisions X yrs ago, using 15 max, can also snowball as the rest of the architecture is built up and now changing it is decidedly non-trivial.

With a small user base and even fewer testers than devs, it just sits waiting to surface during the wide world debut. Wheeeeee

@Pineywoozle the goats are sooooo great! they’re brought in to the regional parks for debris removal - much nicer than mowing!

And the airstreams - that's at Yosemite, the company is called AutoCamp - pretty high end glamping!!

@wendinoakland It’s so cool when they do things like that. A lot of places bring in sheep to mow grass. When I’m less tired I’ll figure out how to post some of your pics I really liked. “Greta’s prey” cracked me up. LoL Used to love camping but I’m a confirmed glamper now. I bought a little Airstream decades ago that I love parking on the beach with all the windows open. It’s all the joys of beach camping and none of the bugs or hard work. 😜
