SSD is now merged and in tip (future 1.1). Enabled via window-decoration = server. Supported on basically everything Wayland and non-Gnome. For now its purely opt-in but still discussing non-Gnome detection and defaulting to SSD.

@mitchellh Could you help me understand why Gnome is the exception? I only recently started using it and learning GTK. I wasn't aware of any sharp edges here.

@mykl Gnome desktop is opinionated about CSDs and GTK/Adw looks "native" on it. Every other desktop/wm in existence prefers SSDs to look native.
