Does anyone know of good Pixelfed servers beyond the main Pixelfed.social?

I really want to ween myself off of Instagram.

@mogul It’s a drag because it’s the one social media app that really felt like a community, but Zuckerberg and Mosseri just made it toxic. I finally realized that I actively dislike using it lately.

@SasquatcherGeneral I keep thinking that it would be amazing to have some way to have Pixelfed with Nextcloud as the backend, sort of like how Nextcloud Memories does, but with ActivityPub.

@SasquatcherGeneral Fair enough. I guess there is a question of federation reach, retention policy, code of conduct (I assume some have an anti-nsfw clause in them).

One of the bitterly beautiful things about the fediverse is that there are a plethora of options to tailor to one's preferences and I think the above attributes are reflections of that.

I guess my thought process is as such; I think it was Lisa Melton who once wrote that they picked mastodon.social because it had the greatest view of the fediverse using posts as a metric. That met their goal. So what's your goal?

@grayson I think that’s why people keep bouncing off of Mastodon and the federated apps in general. We don’t to be expected to put much thought into something as frivolous as social media.

Ultimately I’m sticking with the default server for Pixelfed because I’m still not satisfied with all of the issues with post visibility, synching across servers, etc.
