Seriously, @pluralistic now trying to help raise 30 million dollars to make "BlueSky's underlying tech (the AT protocol) fully resistant to billionaire capture"?
To compensate for it's dependency on an ultra-expensive, centralized #relay, by building and maintaining a second, equally expensive one?
That's probably the "credible exit" that VC-funded BlueSky was dreaming of. Budgeted by donations.
Ok, "freeourfeeds": My feeds are already free here.
An instant classic of a monster blog post on why #BlueSky can't become truly decentralized, by @cwebber [*]:

[*] Please note the author of that blog post has taken a much friendlier stance towards BlueSky than I have. I'm not implying or even suggesting they'd support mine.

@katzenberger @pluralistic @cwebber Looks like the steady supply of village idiots will keep capitalism going. 🤷

@katzenberger @pluralistic @cwebber I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Doctorow be wrong about something before. I can’t look at this plan and see anything but a barely-concealed true goal of soaking up 30 million dollars that ought to be used building out the fediverse and preventing it from doing that. AI people in the inner circle? Can there be any bigger red flag?
