Who was it decided that scrollbars should become tiny thin almost imperceptible things that are almost impossible to manipulate cleanly if you can even find the wretched things, and can we please arrange for whoever it was to be yeeted into the nearest convenient sea?
Windows, Mac OS and Gnome are all guilty of it.

Think I tried one or both of the suggested fixes, they don't bring back 'perfect' scroll bars, if I remember correctly, but they certainly improve the situation.

@hedders Gnome has an accessibility setting for "Always Show Scrollbars" which is quite helpful. It can lead to some comedy moments for unsuspecting apps though.
