🧵 The problem isn't Fri the 13th,it's Monday the 13th. 🤫 I'm waiting for the mechanic from the city because my car has stopped every talk. Just before a super important appointment that I've been waiting half a month for.

No, the evil battery didn't warn me before. No, we don't have the luxury of public transport. No, I can't do a 40 km cycle race over the mountain pass with a yodelling sciatic nerve. BTW there comes something bad from the mountains - weather. 🥶

🧵 My car has made itself cozy on the back of a large trailer and is being taken into town. I have a cup of coping-coffee. :blobcatcoffee:

Did I mention that the Cremant I wanted to toast the New Year with had been undrinkable? It had tipped over during fermentation. NO, this is not an omen for the year 2025! Neither for Mondays! No no no! 🧙

In 10 min I can phone what happened, if they have a battery and when I can get my car back ... edit: well, tomorrow morning. It was indeed the battery.

@Linkshaender A French car not made for the Vosges weather. 🤣

I miss my last car where I could do anything myself, just the cables to the charger et voilà.

With this one it's quite an art to get to the battery at all. 🙄 And it was completely flat. Normally, this should be signalled some time before by a red warning light, but it wasn't.

But I love the garage, they always help quickly. The car is even ready straight away, but the boss is alone and doesn't have anyone to bring me the car and

@Linkshaender and then I'll drive him back into town. And of course, today, everyone I know for taking me to town isn't there.

@NatureMC Ah I forgot (25 years of Renault should have taught me 😎😆). At least the Scenics had an accessible battery. My sister-in-law drives a car where they have to remove the air purifier to get access to the battery 🤪 (they DIY‘ed an „extension cord“ so they can charge the battery at least). I do hope the new battery will last years without problems (and in the long term, climate change will not only allow Bordeaux to be grown at the Mosel, but also prevent freezing batteries 😆).

How did you guess the brand so quickly! I'm always afraid of breaking off one of the plastic pieces if I look too closely. Garage owner: It's typical for some parts to suddenly fall off. 🤣

And well, who could have guessed that it would be suddenly below zero in winter!

@NatureMC Ages ago when I drove my first Renault I noticed that the oil pan/sump did leak a little bit of oil at the underside. Went to the garage and told the machanic. He grinned at me and said „hey, you‘re driving a Renault. You should be worried if this piece is clean and dry“. 😆🤣

If I inlcude the cars my father drove I think I have the model spectrum quite complete: R4/5/8/9/10/11/12/15/16/17/20/Twingo/Scenic 😎

@moonrabbit Fortunately, we have no snow yet, only strong cold. I also have jump cables but nobody with a car near me. 😂 How we say in German: der Arsch der Welt, living at the arse of the world. 😎 Will be a very expensive battery. 😭

@NatureMC i hope you got sorted and to the appointment. maybe try powering the car on strife and political/social discord? you'd get there really fast.
