Is it poor form to buy a new video game when you’ve been idling just before the end of two other video games… for several months?

@dgregor79 wait, you guys play the games you buy? As a Steam user, I have no concept of that 😂

@dgregor79 I thought games were just for collecting.

@dgregor79 Not if you actually begin playing it right away. Beware buying it "for later" due to a sale

@dgregor79 I’m pretty sure this is more common than actually finishing them! I’ve got a Cyberpunk save file that I finally went “eh this is too grimdark for me right now” on weeks ago, we’ll see if I ever finish it

@Catfish_Man @dgregor79 I have a bunch of games that I didn’t finish for years, to just one day go “hmm... this sounds like what I need right now” and then playing through it in a week.

@dgregor79 No, do what you want. Games are there to entertain you; no point continuing a game that no longer entertains you. Don’t throw good hours after bad!

@drahardja I was enjoying both, but by the end the difficulty/complexity tends to ramp up. Then, not having played for a while, it’s daunting to get back into the game again. So there it sits.

@dgregor79 This is why I turn on Easy Mode (aka Story Mode) in most new games. I just can’t be arsed to “get good”. I just want to play a game and relax.

@drahardja yeah, I appreciate those. I usually start on whatever is normal, but if I get annoyed at a part that’s harder than my patience level for that day, I drop down to easy

@dgregor79 playing games and buying games are two separate hobbies

@fay59 @dgregor79 I mean buying books and reading books, two separate activities 🤔

@dgregor79 i think that if part of you feels pressure to finish a game, then there's a good chance that, that at some point, it stopped being a game (for you).
