the stones of Stonehenge are huge. no one seems to know how they were moved into place.

so here's the fun part: there are other stone circles with larger, heavier, more awkwardly shaped stones.

how the fuck did they do it??

the only thing i can think of that maybe makes sense is that maybe they had more snow in winter and moved them on the snow. but even if you figure out how the stones were moved, how were they then put in place??

One theory I've read that makes the most sense to me is that they piled dirt up. Just built bigass artificial hills to the top of the uprights and grunted the top pieces up by the Power Of Many Poor People.

@silvermoon82 that could explain placement, which is how many cairns and barrows were apparently built, especially the ones with a capstone supported by other large stones that make you wonder "how did they get that rock on top of there like that?"

it doesn't explain how they moved them from where ever they were quarried to their current place.

People in that day used techniques like dragging, rollering, sledging, and rafts to transport large stones, but we aren’t sure which specific technique(s) were used for those specific stones. Same goes for questions about the techniques used to raise the stones, although there is more archaeological evidence for those.
