Live in a CEPT country and hold an amateur radio licence but aren't a citizen of the country in which you live? Beware: some sloppy wording in US law means your licence isn't valid when visiting the US. Whoever wrote the US law doesn't understand that "citizenship" and "residency" are two different things, and while elsewhere your licence from the country where you live is valid under CEPT, in the US you need to have a licence from the country of which you are a citizen. 1/2

Previously I'd expect most US officials to handwave this away and consider your licence legitimate, but given Recent Political Developments(tm) which are steering the US into a deeply xenophobic and paranoid place I'd be thinking twice. All it takes is one redneck cop pulling you over for some reason, seeing radio gear and deciding that this foreigner with radio gear and no valid permit for it as passport doesn't match licence is a spy or a terrorist and it could really ruin your holiday. 2/2
