WTF? Latest reports are that both black boxes didn't have the final few minutes of data - probably corresponding to the same time that the transponder data stopped being received as per the publicly available flight tracking services.
Very suspicious...
Also makes it damn near impossible to know what was going through the minds of those pilots when they did the loop around and belly landing - incl. why they didn't put gear back down, etc.

From my limited knowledge of the electrical systems on these things, the only thing I can think of that would cause loss of transponder + recorders (while the plane at large appears in one piece and flyable) would be the relevant circuit breakers being pulled (or possibly "bumped", though less likely) by someone from within the cockpit.
Either that or post-hoc data tampering?
