+t A friend's OC! Working a lot with light for that one! I still need a lot of practice but I really like where things are going!
Sometimes I feel like I wasted a lot of time because I wasn't advised well in my youth when I got serious about art. Using references was frowned upon (especially online ). l've broken that mold and use reference like crazy now. Drawing without is possible, but for me this is how I learn the fastest.

@vortexqueen This is really good. I like the play of sunlight and shadow on the character's skin.
Regarding references: yes, absolutely I use them when I can. Short of having someone model for you (a luxury I certainly don't have), I don't see a better way of learning the ways of anatomy and light and fabric and other such useful things.

@ravanon Thank you so much!
Yeah I come from an era where using references was frowned upon, which GREATLY messed with my progress. I'd be much farther ahead if I had not listened to this kind of rhetoric :(
