Williamsburg has a lot of artifacts of a mid-20th century tourist town, one of the best among them a surplus of pancake houses - my favorite is Colonial, which brings you a whole tureen of coffee and a stupid hearty Virginia breakfast with a fireplace and big comfy booths for $15

@Lyle it's actually gotten meaningfully less dire, but still in the sense that you are going to be having a very American dinner if you don't get takeout
