Toot

Hey #XMPP / #Conversations / #Gajim people, I need some help.

Conversations tells me “you are using unverified devices”, namely Gajim on my desktop. It wants to scan a QR code, but I don't see any way to get a QR code from Gajim for Conversations to scan.

What do I do to fix this?

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org Actually this took me a little bit to figure out.

I started reading the documentation and the docs do mention that this is possible but they do not say how. (https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/-/wikis/OmemoGajimPlugin#verification-qr-codes)

So what I ended up doing was grep -R "qr" /usr/share/gajim/plugins/omemo" to see in which source file the feature was hidden and that's how I found it.

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer @argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org I'm using Debian stable so I'm still using the Omemo plugin (installed separately).

In the most recent versions of Gajim, this is no longer a plugin but Omemo support got added to the main repo so it might look a little different.

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer @argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org Probably more recent than Debian, if you did not have to install the gajim-omemo package separately.

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer @argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org Also I assume you mean arch? Not argv because that's a C thing, funny typo.
