Today's tiny #OptOut #SpendingStrike action - reusable tissues, aka handkerchiefs.
I sew these by hand, using quilting fabric leftovers, worn out cotton garments or even bed linen. No need to be an expert sewer, just basic double-folded hem, and simple equipment - needle, thread, pins, scissors. Some of them are a bit crooked, sizes are all different.
If you or someone in your family has a beloved cotton dress or shirt that's not fit to be worn anymore you can keep it in your life for years longer, in hanky form.
I resort to tissues when I have a disgusting cold, but these are perfect for eyes running in a cold wind, random dust sneezes or unfortunate wasabi incidents.
I give them to family and friends, and am hoping to find more outlets for them, e.g. local library ("Re-usable tissues. Please take one!")
