I believe “absorb a nation that would upset the electoral balance enough to ensure you never hold power again” qualifies as an extreme lack of ability to think ahead to consequences.

@daveshea It's looking like they're going to target AB/SK for statehood. So, 4 reliable GOP senators, plus ~7-8 Reps. And all the oil they can drill.

@mattmay I didn’t think I’d ever reconsider our federal govt’s purchase of the pipeline that delivers said oil to tankers in BC as anything other than a terrible decision, but here we are.
