Made a little book, handed in as first MA module project.

New things tried:

• letterpress (the title page)

• gouache, generally (don't buy cheap paint)

• more informed colour mixing

• panel style illustrations

• depicting movement without animation

• using a white ink printer, to do a layer of white, then a layer of colour over that (that's how the print is light on dark paper)

• a guillotine (yey)

• quick and dirty binding using neon thread on sewing machine (remarkably no needles were broken)

Do I love it, nope, did I make every mistake possible and therefore learn lots, yup. Not doing that again, is the main lesson right now.

Reckon cost price for each A5 book is a couple of k, including time, efficient it was not 🙃 Which is partly my painful learning curve but partly also the inherent slowness of analogue everything... which in turn is partly why so many illustrations now look flat and samey (thank procreate/apple for that digital sadness) and mass production books tend to use boring paper and print techniques.
