I propose we do "Winter" decorations instead of "Holiday Season"

As it gets colder we start decorating and putting up pretty lights and all this stuff that counteracts the gloom of winter.

Then we take it all down right before the coldest, darkest, SHITTIEST part of winter kicks in.

Seeing my neighbor's lights still up, is just a little bit of color and cheer now that the temperatures are in the single digits. Even my snarky self needs that from time to time.

@SallyStrange @DabonSteed It is weird how free focus has shifted though. Now, the month before Christmas is all carols and stuff, and then at the dawn of Boxing Day it is all over! It used to be that there wasn't much up until Christmas Eve, then there were 12 days of celebration, until Jan 6th (12th night).

@Dss @SallyStrange

Ah, see, I always assumed the the 12 days of Christmas ENDED with Christmas Day, rather than starting on Christmas Day.

Descendants

@DabonSteed @Dss Yeah my parents were actually pretty into that. We listened to Nowell Sing We Clear, which had songs about celebrating "Old Christmas," on Jan. 6, in both the Old World and the New. We traditionally put our tree up only a few days before Christmas, and decorated it on the 24th. Then we would keep it up for most of January. Which makes sense to me because November and December have holidays but January is so long and empty.

@DabonSteed @Dss Occasionally we'd get a second round of presents on Jan. 6, which was nice, and a good way to deal with presents that arrived late.
