I keep coming back to the fact that they finally did ask MAGA "So when was America great?" and the consensus, regardless of age, was that America was great when they were kids.

So, these folks had a really bad transition into adulthood because they're nostalgic for when their parents controlled their lives and the world was less complicated because they didn't know much about it.

No self awareness. None.

Yes and No.

We will fact check each other, and those sometimes actually turn into thoughtful discussions. People will apologize even.

But there is no centralized fact checkers, cause federation. And yet, we don't have the misinformation problem that other socials do. Socials run by corps that include algorithms.

Almost as if the incentive to tell shocking lies for attention isn't here, and that's why it's not as much of a problem.

I propose we do "Winter" decorations instead of "Holiday Season"

As it gets colder we start decorating and putting up pretty lights and all this stuff that counteracts the gloom of winter.

Then we take it all down right before the coldest, darkest, SHITTIEST part of winter kicks in.

Seeing my neighbor's lights still up, is just a little bit of color and cheer now that the temperatures are in the single digits. Even my snarky self needs that from time to time.

It was NOT because anyone had any expensive, exotic, rare, fragile list items. The opposite, it was too mundane, and having the structure of a list imposed on this in-law spoiled shopping-based creative expression.

I have someone who prefers to swing for the fences and argue the ball was in fact a home run or don't you love me??

I've been here 5 years and I have yet to meet an actual professor. Students? Yes, all the time. A bunch of my clients are students. We have a handful of student workers as well.

Basically, if you want to get in the door with academics, I'm of no help. I don't know anyone, or where to even look for them.
