I strongly oppose the Oranga Tamariki Amendment Bill.
In a serious society it would be inconceivable for a Bill such as this to proceed in the same period as the Government was compelled to make a public apology and offer significant compensation for abuse of vulnerable individuals in state care. Whether New Zealand is a serious society or not, in 2025 it does not have a serious government, nor does it appear to have a government which is capable of learning anything from history.
