Thanks to the Irish mutt we got to a view point. I had planned a flat 5km, but Paddy dragged me to the top, slow going. Well worth it.

@woollypigs I love it that you let him lead the line .. though being dragged up a trail, presents an amusing mental image, even for someone like me who is alphantasic 😂

@robchapman dragged in the sense - hurry, this way, come on you slow human! A good reminder for a dog vs human relationship, remember that walkies is for the dog, not the human. If they wanna sniff for 10min in one spot - let them, if they want to go left - let them. Yes, do the "empty" walks, from A to B walks, but let them at least once a day have a walk on their terms. Our late Tilley, loved to show me the way, get to a junction and I'll ask her "which way, show me" she would sniff left/right, look at me and off she went. She especially loved it, when it was "Big Coat" weather, coming in sideways, dragged/explored the town for hours and we arrived home hours later soaked to the bone, to put the fire on ;)

@woollypigs I've never owned a dog...I have cats, and though you can walk them on a lead, they are less than impressed to do so, even if you trained them from kitten....I did used to cross country walk/run with a school friend and his dog when I was younger, I always remember that some of the dogs chosen routes were not so ideal for us bipeds, so we'd all come back needing a hose down.

@robchapman yes their "four paws drive" have taken us on some "adventures", and of course you have to guide them in some places, the middle of dual carriage way, ain't a good for walkies ;) I've seen a few walk and cycle with their cats.

@woollypigs There is a couple here that tale there cats for walks on leads, along the Sliema sea front...of course it all goes fine, until they meet a dog...and then it all gets a bit cat heffy/dog barky/humans shouty...heated, but their cats seem to like it, so it can be done if you have the patience of a saint 🤣

@robchapman Tilley's best friend was the neighbours cat, Archie, a proper Tom. Which ment all cats are friends for Tilley, but not for the cats, so I had to hold her back ;)

@woollypigs Cats and Dogs for the most part get on with each other, if they are brought up in the same environment. Daisy, an old female we used to have, loved our next door neighbours lurcher's, and they would even let her eat their food, (if she got there quick enough)....she would also reluctantly share her treats, especially when one of the lutcher's would lay down and kind of cover its face with its paws, being all submissive...then she'd be like, oh ok then!
