Because having opinions about coding fonts is Important: coding font bracket challenge at https://www.codingfont.com/

Turns out, I have opinions (some of these make me whimper), hate ligatures, and apparently the shape of "r" is more important than I would have expected for me.

It feels like the presence of ligatures in the font should not be determinant, though - because they're there doesn't mean I have to use them. Buuuuut. (It's probably the reason why JetBrains Mono, which is the font I currently use in my IDE, and which I actually don't hate, got discarded early.)

I ended on Source Code Pro. Well, first try on Cousine, but then I hate the "r"'s :P First attempt at putting it on my IDE is a movement of recoil, but it may just be a matter of "aaaah, change!". That said, I should have done the test with my usual light theme and not their default dark theme, because it changes things too.

lol and if I re-do the test without ligatures and on light theme, I do end up on JetBrains mono 😁

My current font (Fira Code) went all the way to the finals, but was ultimately dethroned by Oxygen Code.

@Balise Nice test! I must admit I didn't look closely at all characters, but ended up with IBM Plex Mono. Will try it tomorrow at work. Does your favorite mono font say something about your personality? :-P
