Wow! I’m on 6th ave near Rockfeller Center. The streets of NYC are so much more peaceful thanks to the new congestion pricing. It’s a lot less crowded and crazy now. Less noise pollution to boot!
It’s wonderful! Love it!

@JacobHenner It’s been planned for a while, but it started 2025 Jan 5 just moments after midnight. It’ll reduce traffic and increase funding for public transport

@awoodsnet I'm familiar. I was asking what the basis of comparison was for the change in traffic observed yesterday, because a snowy Monday might not be a representative sample.

@JacobHenner my nearest points of comparison were just a few a days ago. However prior to that was the holidays , so that can’t be considered. For good data, we’ll just have to wait because only time can give us a truly representative sample. I expect the city of New York will be cataloging the data, and comparing it to the same dates as previous years e.g. 2025 Jan 07 vs (2024 Jan 07 vs 2023 Jan 07 vs 2022 Jan 07)
I expect measurements in the summer months will have a most interesting data.
