Off to a good start with first book of the year finished: Flights by Olga Tokarczuk. Now reading Perdido Street Station by China Miéville.
Also planning to work through the Malazan novellas over the next month or so.

@snail I actually, unclearly, was prodding for a review or two. I’m reading múrakami short stories atm - they are excellent

@Trishh you were clear but I chose to take the conversation in a direction that also fit logically :)
Flights was lovely, a bunch of vignettes, and short bits, sometimes connected within a broader flow...though I am reluctant to suggest narrative.
I'd argue that her Drive Your Plow...is a more accessible work but also very good.
I am disappointed that the Murakami is for the Feb meeting as a nice edition with sprayed edges is due out in April.

@snail you can have too many versions of Murakami?

@Trishh @snail just pondering the fact that I have never read any Murakami…

@flexnib @snail I think you should read at least one - you can do the short stories - I’m two in and they are worth reading and the mental energy required to start a short story is always minimal

@Trishh @snail will add to the list of authors I have not read. I’ve been finding that the best way to start with these authors I’ve not read for whatever reason is to put something on my ereader and then I might dip into it when I have insomnia

@flexnib @snail excellent plan. Except boo to insomnia

@Trishh @snail I’m glad I’m not having to manage insomnia on top of having to be at work in the morning!

@Trishh we'll see. I have bought the ebook for now. This will be my first Murakami. I could also wait for Folio to do an edition.
I have at least 3 copies of Dune: Folio Society, Easton Press, Centipede Press. Love the last the most and they are doing all six of the Frank Herbert titles
