So many plot holes and goofs in Raiders, it is ridiculous.

From the dialogue extras cheering on their competitor in English in the Tibetan bar, through the diggers carrying on once the Ark is found, to Indy riding out in pursuit in the Egyptian desert on a horse … right through the middle of the Nazi camp's motor pool.

All good fun, though.

And as I hit publish, I realize that we have almost reached it anyway. A minecart has just appeared on screen.

Quite a lot of this film between the opening dance number (sic!) and the minecart is mind-numbingly dull.

Sean Connery was not a surprise reveal in Last Crusade at the time. Xe was in the publicity, and the opening credits. That xe was Indy's dad was in the tagline on the movie posters. The director not showing us his face for an hour was a trick to build suspense. When would Connery, that we knew would appear, finally appear?

At which point it becomes a buddy road movie, with Nazis. Imagine trying to sell that idea to a 1980s movie studio.

Well that's Last Crusade done. I can now either continue with Connery #movies by switching tracks to Red October, or continue with #IndianaJones and Crystal Skull.

I never knew about the real dog until decades later. It does add an amusing extra twist.

I wonder what sex the dog was; because now (after I learned of #IndianaMassara thanks to #IThinkWereAloneNow) know of two female real Indianas and zero real male ones.

Both Australian, oddly. Is female #Indiana an Aussie thing?
