The only surprising thing to me about this is that the number is that low. I assumed a popularity metric would be gamed so much harder than that.

@jamie I don't know if I feel proud of @CrystalLanguage having earned each of its check notes 19,5k starts legitimately, or dumb for not thinking before that this number can be inflated artificially

@beta I have no doubt that most of them are real. If I had to guess, I'd say most of the fake stars are probably projects whose creators wanted to get listed on the trending list for increased visibility.

So if you hadn't considered the possibility before, chances are any fake stars make up a small percentage. 😄
