So last day of 2024. It's been a bit of a holding year. Most of the bad stuff had already started in 2023 and it's just been a deterioration.

However I think 2025 will be different, not in a good way. Here are my fwiw predictions

• It will be the hottest year in record
• The AI bubble will burst, probably with an open AI funding round not being met, this will cause a wider market downturn.
• A new front will open up in WWIII, it may even start to be called that
• A prominent world leader will die, there are too many old men, they can't sell last forever.
• Public health will deteriorate, with a combination of new deseases and lack of precautions for old ones
• Public mood against cooperations will sour further governments will pick the wrong side and it may start some more anti business parties

Here's my commentary on those predictions with my own additions:

• It will be the hottest year in record

Europe will see the longest, hot, dry spell on record, followed by the wettest Autumn & WInter on record. Lives will be lost in floods in the UK.

• The AI bubble will burst, probably with an open AI funding round not being met, this will cause a wider market downturn.

AI will continue to be used extensively in research & health although there will be a consumer backlash

• A new front will open up in WWIII, it may even start to be called that

WW3 will be recognised as such with the South China Sea finally being the flashpoint. Russian sabotage on European infrastructure increases.

• A prominent world leader will die, there are too many old men, they can't sell last forever.

Trump does not last the year. There is financial & political turmoil in the USA leading to the USA becoming isolated, particularly as NATO collapses.

• Public health will deteriorate, with a combination of new deseases and lack of precautions for old ones

Exacerbated by very high temperatures followed by floods in Europe, and a breakdown in USA institutions (above)

• Public mood against corporations will sour further governments will pick the wrong side and it may start some more anti business parties

(edited to Corporation) Europeans see how the USA is going and along with the threat of WW3 (above) choose a form of Democratic Socialism

@jfrench I've bookmarked this and hopefully one of us will remember to look to see how well / badly out crystal ball was performing in 12 months!
