Toot

I am frequently asked what is the "best" way for people to buy my work so that the most money gets to me, enough so that I've finally written a primer about it to point people toward, and it also covers my opinions re: libraries, used bookstores and pirating:

@scalzi This is so good, and I so appreciate your acknowledgement of what libraries and publishers and booksellers do (as well as agents and lawyers and managers), that even though I've never pirated a book of yours I'm going to send something to First Book before the year's out.

@scalzi thank you for this great clarifying article. It is a good reality check too for those thinking of doing the business side of things: hiring people at a certain point makes a lot of sense rather than sucking your creative resources into those tasks.

@scalzi Wish there were ways to get yours (and others) books without being 'crippled' by DRM.

@sohkamyung My Tor and Subterranean books are sold DRM free, and also, as I note in the article, if you bought them I consider them yours so whatever you do to secure your property is fine by me.

@PeachMcD

That was informative and interesting, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for being supportive of public libraries.

I especially appreciate this bit ๐Ÿ˜Š

"Finally, let me note that when youโ€™ve paid me for a book of mine, in whatever format, itโ€™s my opinion that you own that book and however you choose to secure that ownership is your business."
