I'm kind of floored by this article. The author claims that using AI has significantly decayed their skills. But they also say this:

'I’m not suggesting anything radical like going AI-free completely—that’s unrealistic.'

This is crazy to me. This dev has 12 years of experience!

I've seen something like this once before though: A dev who switched to drag and drop workflows and lost nearly all of their coding skills. They had to ask me how to create an HTTP request.

Honestly the best part is that it's obvious that these kids are having an absolute blast making this movie

I'm watching Baliwood's interpretation of Harry Potter.

Indian Harry and Indian Malfoy are having an epic dance/sing battle. I don't speak Hindi, put it seems like they are mercilessly ROASTING each other.

I'd kill to have subtitles ridht now!

The man who taught me how to use a screw driver died today. He inspired within me a lifetime of curiosity and learning (and an obsession with disassembling everything).

But greater than that, he impressed upon my heart the urgency of integrity, the selflessness of humility, and the unassailable power of a pure and simple Faith.

And rarer still, he did so not with long lectures, but by quietly living out these virtues day by day. I hope to be even half the man he was.

I miss him so much.

I'm trying out a new mobile keyboard!

I know it looks a bit crazy, but I think with a little practice I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

I do especially like having quick access to punctuation characters.

"The Great Collapse was the most significant event in the 21st century. Nations had preemptively hacked one another's critical infrastructure and placed stealthy exploits that could be remotely detonated. On that day, [REDACTED] triggered the chain of events that led to all nations simultaneously activating their exploits, causing global collapse of all infrastructure and in turn most societies. This is also referred to as the 'Silent Apocalypse'"

I just said to my wife "I need to get my suit dry cleaned before the next funeral" and I think it's one of the most adult things I've ever said.

The kind you don't associate with adulthood when you're still a kid.

One of the lovely perks of living in a part of the world with wild temperature swing is that we get to play in 6 inches of snow when it's sunny and 30° F.

I'm having a blast with the kids.

I've been seeing the same therapist for about 4 years now.

It's not been easy. It's taken a lot of time and patience but...

I finally have him using #opensource software.

(jokes aside he is now using fdroid thanks to me 😅)

While it's usually well intentioned, I feel like telling people

"needing help doesn't make you weak"

reinforces the notion that being weak is bad.

It's okay to have times of weakness. It's a part of who we are as humans, and it's precisely the reason we need each other.

I think it would be great for us to practice being comfortable with that fact.

The page wouldn't load without js, even though it looks super legacy (I think it had captcha too?) BUT when I looked at network requests I saw a simple get that returned the data I wanted in json.

No captcha, no csrf, no JS or cookies of any kind needed.

I guess that's the advantage of legacy sites 😂

Yay for #python and ntfy!

My spouse is waiting for their state license for Paramedic to finally go through. It's driving them crazy waiting.

So I wrote a tiny script to check every 60 seconds and send a mobile push out using ntfy when the status says paramedic.

Thankfully the gov site uses a very simple HTTP request with no cookies needed and returns json, so it was a piece of cake!

small helpful things like this make me happy 😁

You can't defend your rights unless you know your rights.

And people WILL try to deny you your rights.

I'm fighting with a school that has refused to give me records of an incident involving my child.

I asked the person to send me an email (we were on a call) stating that I requested the records and was denied, and she got very testy with me over that.

Thankfully I've got a friend who's a teacher, who gave me great advice on how to proceed.

To its credit, I do like the way it blurs lines of "good guys" and "bad guys".

But then again, Transformers Robots In Disguise did the same thing in a much more gradual and nuanced way that I feel like is more effective.

If your message feels forced it's going to take a massive hit to effectiveness, which defeats the whole purpose.

Something feels so weird about full size bots that have the mind of children and call a pair of humans mom and dad.

Not saying it's wrong, I just don't think it quite comes off the way the authors intended.
