I’m about to rip all the HomePods out of my house. In the last few months I haven’t been able to reliably airplay a podcast (from any third party podcast app) to any of my HomePods (1st and 2nd gen big one, and the minis). After I start playing a podcast a couple minutes later it cuts in and out and will even jump around.

The Sonos sound bar and sub works perfectly for podcasts and music. Maybe it’s finally time to go all in on Sonos.

@samvarma Yup! I went all in on the HomePods and loved them for years. But right now the most reliable way to play music throughout the front part of our house is to use our record player from the 70s.

@ChrisLawley @samvarma Similar here. Get so many complaints from my family, they even want me to move back to old lamps, since Siri control of Hue does not work reliably. What happened to HomeOS that they became so unreliable?

@ChrisLawley I went through this—replacing my HomePod minis with Sonos Era 100s—a few months ago, and I haven’t regretted it one bit. I decided to keep one of the HomePods around for Siri, though, as I don’t care for Alexa or Sonos’ Voice Control 🤷🏼‍♂️

Next Sonos purchase: the Arc Ultra!

@ChrisLawley I listened to the latest @comfortzone episode, keep in mind that the current version of Overcast (since the new version was released, really) contains bugs that break Airplay functionality. I have no problem using Airplay with Apple Podcasts or Pocket Casts.

@ChrisLawley I did go all out in Sonos and it has been wonderful. My HomePods were so bad and unreliable I couldn’t take it. Jump ship, you will be happier.
