The spell checker on a PC. I told stories for many years but dyslexia stopped me from trying to write them down.
Struggling to spell words slowed down the flow of any story until it disappeared. I had too many 'Kubla Khan' moments.
I still find it easier to tell stories aloud rather than capture them on paper or a screen.

Me too Tiggy. Even to write this I have to use a spell checker, though it will be my e-mail client Thunderbird (highly recommended) as it is quicker to load.
Still I have written 60,000 words of non-fiction that is looking for a publisher at this very moment.
