Human exceptionalism, the essence of all that is unholistic, unrealistic, unsustainable.

Too many perspectives seem to think humans are at the pinnacle of evolution and the world's resources are there for us to use up.

@jackofalltrades In 'The Selfish Gene', Dawkins explains how human memetics, however sophisticated, is not in principle any different from a honeycomb or the elaborate constructions of bowerbirds. Without substantial and sustained discipline specifically aligned against our primitive animal nature, our reason is only an extension of our instinct.
