Overview of cyberattack response on Calgary Public Library: it was a ransomware attack, like Toronto Public Library. they shut down all servers.

6 weeks "holding pattern" to get first services back up. Said it could have been much worse. And back stronger!

@brewsterkahle good for them. I happened to visit the main Calgary Public Library during those 6 weeks and wasn't really impacted (just a visitor) -- other than by how amazing the library is. Best of its class (modern central library in large city) I've seen, very thoughtful layout for all uses. Were I a kid there I'd be especially delighted. Oil money and decent governance and taste? Anyway, highlight of trip.
