Apropos the last picture: The paternal leave here in Norway has apparently been great for radicalising dads to be more in favour of universal accessibility, as they get to experience what it's like getting around with a stroller, and wanting their kids to be safe on the streets where they live.

@syklemil on one hands that’s wonderful! On the other it’s always a bit frustrating when one group doesn’t believe the lived experiences of others until they live them themselves.

@Alexjusino it’s been a mild winter. Below freezing at night but most days at or above slightly. Not much snow so far but a fair bit of ice due to rain and snow melt. Def not as aggressive as what I’ve heard about Chicago. Oslo is known, it seems, as one of the most temperate cities in Norway.

@sommer be careful: I was referred to Trondheim as charming, and my host was insulted. I didn’t expect the connotation to be reductive, but apparently it was. That, or he was over sensitive.

@darrylhthomas haha I’m going to go with overly sensitive. 😂 At least here in Oslo I’ve had my host refer to this city as “a village that dressed up like a city” which is just an adorable image

@sommer According to Kari Leibowitz, many Nordic societies suffer SAD at the same rate as people in the southern states due to cultural adaptations. I was listening to an interview with her and just picked up her book which sounds fascinating (now that we have REAL winter to deal with here in Edinburgh).
