@SteveBellovin It's funny you mentioned that. I literally just saw this NPR piece about Palma redoing his translation earlier this morning.

@SteveBellovin yeah, been about 45 years for me. Was in 7th grade, read it so I could write a D&D dungeon around it for my campaign.

@SteveBellovin I've only ever read John Ciardi's version, but I never felt a need to try another — I remember it as striking, compelling and beautiful, everything I've heard the original to be. https://archive.org/details/inferno_202106
