The work accomplishment I'm proudest of is that when I join a team, statistically, the amount of PTO that team takes goes up.

I mean, sure, sometimes, but I think the bigger contributor is that it turns out that a single person showing up to consistently and assertively say "don't do that that's stupid" is an alarmingly effective way to combat glorifying burnout.

Coming into the office when basically everyone else is on PTO? Don't do that that's stupid.
Not taking time off for a year because you can't find the right time or because you feel guilty? Don't do that that's stupid.
It's wild how much this shit is just in the oxygen supply and someone just needs to give people permission to opt out of it.
