So, I wanted to watch my girlfriend play some games today. Only problem is, we don't really want to broadcast that gameplay to the world.

Other problem: it's a PS5 game. Yes you could link YouTube and then do an unlisted stream but that's a mess and bad. For whoever knows what reason it only supports YouTube and Twitch via account integrations. So no private RTMP, no Discord streaming.

"Lunaphied, couldn't you just use a capture card": well yes but that's a nightmare to setup.

You know what wouldn't be? A TV that had an HDMI capture card built in. That's where the output is, so that's where the capture should be able to happen!

Sadly we'll never see this happen because it's abhorrent to capitalists in basically every way

@Lunaphied uhh i vaguely recall that @retr0id used a rooted webos tv as a capture card at some point

@leo @Lunaphied iirc I had to pick between very low resolution or very low fps - but yes, webos TVs are technically capable of capturing their own inputs. maybe proper integration with the hw video encoders could make it work...
