Set up my blog thing, it looks pretty ugly, but you can follow it as an RSS/Atom/JSON feed in your favourite app anyways.

Not like I'll use it that much anyways tbf

I'm looking at different options right now to properly set up how my socials are. Micro.blog looks nice but idk if I should pay for it -- don't you use it? What do you think?

@jglypt I use it as hosting for my main blog. It does the job. I used The crossposting features, heavily, in the past. That has been mostly moved to EchoFeed. I love the workflow I have to publish there, and that is the reason why I keep paying for it. Weblog is pretty cool, too. Nice that it’s included.

@maique yeah that's the thing, I'm not sure how much I'd use it for a "blog". I love the tweets style things "microblogs" (I prefer the name tweets lol) - I know that's in the name, but I think people on it might be a bit too "serious"?

The crossposting things look useful, and yea I have EchoFeed as well - but I mainly use it for my omg.lol things like Weblog and the Status updates, nothing else.

Any reason why EchoFeed is better than M.b's cross posting? Or do you just want it in 1 place?

@jglypt My blog is mostly “micro”, even though I have some longer posts occasionally. Mostly I want stuff to be somewhere I “own”, and not on a random social service that can go away.

You are right, everyone who has a blog is very serious 🤣🤣🤣🤣

EchoFeed is faster, more reliable, and configurable. Those were the reasons for moving that part.

@maique yeah I like your photos haha. Mhm, I kept reading that the point of Micro.blog is that you have it on your own site, but say Manton and the M.b. team just disappeared tomorrow, surely the whole site will go down, no? How's it resistant to that?

And yeah exactly lol, I feel like an outlier.

Ah, gotcha. It's just that it seems like Micro.blog's native crossposter looks a bit more flexible since you can add other socials, like Nostr (random example) which EchoFeed don't offer.

If M.b disappears, you just export everything, and import elsewhere. The stuff is yours.

Micro.blog’s crossposting has a couple other networks, yes. If you’re using that, it might be worth the money.
